Ravensbourne residents are planning their first spring fair in November. A fun run and walk to the Ravensbourne National Park lookout will kick off a full program of family friendly activities.
The 3 km course will loop up through the rainforest to the Gus Beutel lookout and back to the local sports oval. Keen runners can cover the distance twice for the 6 km segment.
The inaugural Ravensbourne Spring Fair will be held on Saturday, November 12, at the oval off the Esk Hampton Road, with spectacular views out across the Brisbane Valley.
A variety of events are planned to cater for different ages throught the day, plus stalls will be set up around the oval such as local produce, cakes and carft to encourage the community to enjoy the country atmosphere.
Organisers hope the fair and fun run will draw all ages from the community, boost awareness about the different local activities to be involved in, as well as raise money for the Ravensbourne sporting association.
RACQ Careflight will also benefit from fund raising throughout the day.
Novelty events scheduled during the day feature wheelbarrow races, an acocado and wooden spoon race and old fashioned sack races.
Fun run coordinator, Tracy Fellowes, said there were various categories for age groups, under eight, under 12, under 18 and open.
The main event will start at 8:30am. Registrations taken from 7:30am cost $5 per child and $10 per adult. All entrants will be in the pool for prizes donated by local businesses.
